Learn how professional comedians get people’s attention, keep it, and make them laugh. This 8-week stand-up course will break down the comedy tools you’ll need to captivate, improve your confidence, present better and funnier, and guide your first adept steps into the world of comedy. And you don’t need to be a natural either!

The best TED Talks are funny. The most successful business speakers are funny. The people who make employers laugh get hired. Whether you want to overcome stage fright, advance your career outside of comedy or start a new career as a comedian, this course’s emphasis on writing, preparation, and performance will help you get there.

The course is taught by Jesse Fernandez, an 11-year stand-up comedy veteran who regularly performs at all the major Bay Area clubs, has been featured in 9 SF Sketchfests, presented research at The International Society For Humor Studies Conference, and won the Speechless improvised powerpoint competition as well as the National College Comedy Competition. Among the countless people he’s opened for are Maria Bamford (from Netflix’s Lady Dynamite), Andy Kindler (judge on NBC’s Last Comic Standing), Mary Lynn Rajskub (from Fox’s 24), and even Steve-O (you know what he’s from). He’s written in The Onion Inc. Network, the funniest parts of certain TED Talks, Starbucks, MSN, ABC, eBaum’s World (yes, they’re still around), famous comedians, and many more.

Admission to this course entitles you to FREE admission to the SF Comedy Showcase on each of the 8 Sundays when class sessions take place. At these showcases you’ll get to study the best comedy talent in the Bay Area as they perform their acts.

Each class session will take place from 5:00pm-6:30pm on the 8 Sundays from March 19th (skipping Easter Sunday, April 16th) through May 14th (culminating on May 14th with a stand-up comedy performance by you and your classmates for loving/laughing friends and family.)

Save yourself the service fee by RSVPing at TheStandupClass@gmail.com before tickets run out and then paying at the door rather than buying through this website.

Must be at least 18 years old to attend.
